| Pafos is a pleasant holiday destination for leisure activities where picturesque open-air fish restaurants lining a quayside of fishing boats and pleasure craft. The fascinating west-coast town of Pafos centrally located an attractive little harbour. Upper part of the town leads towards shopping area that contains both chronological and vintage building styles. Pafos also became the capital city of Cyprus under the successors of Alexander the Great, the Ptolemies, during the time when its harbour was a busy successful port. It remained as the capital for over seven centuries and retained its importance under Roman rule. Its most renowned Governor was Sergius Paulus who was converted to Christianity by St Paul in 45 AD. For its historical and cultural values, Pafos is also included in the official list of UNESCO Cultural Heritage sites.
