Although Nicosia’s history is as old as Bronze Age (5000 years back) however it is enjoying the ‘Capital of Cyprus’ status from the last 1000 years since 10th century. It lies towards the middle of the Island in the ‘Mesoria Plain’ surrounded by the beautiful northern range mountains of Kirin with distinctive Pentadaktylos, which means five finger mountains.

Nicosia is the central headquarter of government officials & diplomats and reflects both chronological and modern ages. The historic and more original part of the city is encircled with brawny Venetian walls over 400 years old whereas the colonized and busy modern metropolis with a population of 171.000 combines the suburbs.

Nicosia also acts as traditional and the cultural capital of Cyprus. Several significant museums that exactly describe the historic heritage of this phenomenal area are lying at walking distance. Along side the strong bastion walls that were used to protect the town for centuries; one can explore many places historical spots.

Eleftheria Square is the central connection point of old and new Nicosia. Modern city has extended up outside the walls, where restaurants, offices, hotels and gardens mix together with archeological building models are composed beautifully.

Laiki Yitonia
By the East of Eleftheria Square and within the walled city, Laiki Yitonia is a newly restored pedestrian area. All the traditional houses, shops, restaurants, galleries, have been restored splendidly representing a typical example of Cypriot urban architecture of a former, elegant age.
