Paphos
The Cypriot Government is heavily investing in Paphos region and Paphos International Airport refurbishments is expected to be completed in 2008 enabling the airport to cater 2.7 million passengers p. a. Another major investment plan is the development of a new 1,000-berth luxury marina, supposed to be constructed near Coral Bay with a rejuvenation project for the old Paphos harbour and other major beach improvements. One of the largest in the world and very first for Cypris, is a $1 billion mixed-use developments plan consisting of a 250 acre area which will be named as ‘Neapolis’. It will include a new hospital, international business centre, research and development centre, private university, and office park with cultural and leisure facilities. A new motorway will make the entire island easily accessible.
Larnaca
Larnaca is an amazing city that attracts the buyers from all around the Europe. Being the second major port and an international airport, this town is really flourished. This is one of the oldest constantly inhabited cities in the world with plenty of historical sightseeing places offering crystal clear sea, bright sandy beaches and consistently blue skies. With 450-yacht capacity marina, Larnaca is also a famous destination for boat owners. Tourists always enjoy the palm-lined harbour’s promenade and the blend of quirky local shops, well-known branded stores, panoramic ocean views and inviting cafes. The city was known as Kition at the time of Old Testament and the ruins of this ancient city are still available to some extent. Luckily much of its rich archaeological heritage is successfully preserved and is displayed in two of its main museums. From the Neolithic period onwards, the surrounding area outside the city is also a real treasure-trove of historic wrecks.
Polis & Latchi
IIn the middle of spectacular Chrysochou Bay and among the Paphos forest on the right and the Akamas Peninsular on the left, lies the civilized and historic area of Polis with its twinned village of Latchi – an attractive fishing port. It is situated just 30 minutes from the International airport and main town of Paphos. A new highway is also planned for 2008. This is an area of pure natural beauty and only 6km away to the West of the vast Akamas National Park.Paphos apartment are an excellent choice for any type of property investment in Cyprus. Argaka
Argaka is situated to the nearby resorts of Polis & Latchi. It lies at the bottom of the Paphos forest and offers both sea and mountain scenes with excellent climate. It is just at a short distance to secluded beaches. Argaka is ideally placed between the fishing harbour of Pomos and up-and-coming international marina at Latchi. The significant and cultural town of Polis with all its hustle and bustle is close to many facilities and amusements.
Tochni Village
Tochni is a small and charming village in Troodos Mountains’ foothills. The village lies among Larnaca & Limasol and is only at a short drive from the beautiful Governors Beach. Stone built houses line up the narrow streets that twist their way to the attractive church of Saints Constantinos and Eleni. The village square is the central hub of life in Tochni and offers a supermarket, bank and coffee shops. Governors Beach is almost 15 km East of Limassol and is only accessible by car or taxi. There are no hotels and apartments but it has tavernas , a camping site and small sandy spaces.
Kalavasos
The village of Kalavasos is situated 3km West of Tochni. In Greek it refers as “good base” which is no doubt true due to its vital position. Located at 30 minutes drive from Nicosia, Larnaca and Limassol and at Kalavasos is at a short distance from Tochni. It offers multiple choices of dinning establishments than Tochni.
Aphrodite's Rock
The famous birthplace of Aphrodite came along the main road of Limassol to Paphos is just 25 km East of Paphos. According to the statement of legends, Aphrodite, goddess of love & beauty, rose from the waves from this remarkable beautiful spot. Its Greek name is Petra tou Romiou - The Rock of the Greek is coupled with the renowned frontier-guard of Byzantine times, Digenis Akritas, who possess the marauding Saracens at bay with wonderful strength. It is stated that he lifted this large rock into the sea destructing the enemy's ship. Baths of Aphrodite According to legend, the goddess Aphrodite used to take her splendor baths in a pool of a natural grotto, in the shade of a fig tree, which is still visible. The Baths of Aphrodite are located in the Akamas Peninsula, near Polis, approximately 48km North of Paphos.
Lara Bay
Lara Beach, in the Akamas Peninsula with neighboring Toxeftra Beach and three other adjacent beaches are nesting lands of the rare Green Turtle and were announced as a turtle reserve in 1989. In present years this area got incredible consideration from developers establishing for large-scale tourism. If you are organizing a trip to Cyprus then the Akamas Peninsula is a must visiting place. A four-wheel drive is possibly the best way to travel since there are some dirt tracks on roads with lots of boulders and rocks.
Ayia Napa
For the people who like noisy nightlife, Ayia Napa is a paradise. During the peak season this place is packed with mainly young partygoers who literally enjoy party all the night. It’s a lovely place to visit especially for swimming & sunbathing. Beaches are absolutely beautiful with long strings of white-sand. Nissi beach is quite long and crowded but all time favourite is Makronissos, a smaller beach with beautiful white sand with shallow waters.
Troodos Mountains
The Troodos Mountains are situated in the middle of the Greek part of Cyprus and cover up most of the central heap of Cyprus. The ancient monasteries, the cool weather, green slopes marked with tiny villages and forest paths provide a great relief from the warmth of the beaches & city of Nicosia. Some monasteries recall back history to the Byzantine period; some highlighted are the Kykkos monastery, just 20km West of Pedhoulas village. Founded in 1100 and devoted to the Virgin Mary, it possesses one of the three surviving icons attributed to St. Luke. This icon is covered by silver gilt and encircled in a shrine of tortoiseshell. Religious fairs are conducted at Kykko on 15th August and 8th September each year.
Omodos
Omodos is a beautiful village in the Troodos Mountains. Situated at 11km South West of Platres, in foothills of mountains, this charming wine producing village was formerly the property of Sir John de Brie, Prince of Galilee. The Monastery of Stavros (Holy Cross) stands in the middle of the village. The monastery contains excellent wood carving, old icons and other priestly objects of interest along with a small National struggle museum. This quaint village is a warren of tiny cobbled alleyways, all of which holds picture-postcard vistas of customary Cypriot life. Hard to believe that somewhere so often visited places have retained so much of their own identity. The village manufactures a lot of wine and celebrates a wine festival every year.
